In recent centuries, however, the amount of man-made materials has grown explosively, such as plastic, concrete or asphalt. Which materials are dangerous? Which ones will give us a sustainable future? That's the focus of our fall issue. Find out how intelligent materials think, heal themselves or stop global warming.
